New site

The new site is active! Everyone should be able to login with their old username and password. If this is not working, please send an email to admin at forthegospel dot org or use the contact form. A few users who have not had their account activated on the old site will need to register again here.

I will add some new features over time, but the basic structure is in place. For example, automatic links to Bible texts in the forum are not currently active, but I hope to have this working soon. The new site is pretty self-explanatory, but if there are any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

Any suggestions are appreciated, and they can be added here on this thread or on the Feedback Forum.

It is my sincere desire that we lift up the name of Jesus Christ in all that we do here, and that his gospel will be seen in the clearest light possible.

Site Update and Downtime

Later today and perhaps over the weekend there will be a period when the forum and blog will be closed to new posts/comments. The site may be inaccessible for a brief period of time. This downtime will allow us to transition to a “new and improved” site format. Hopefully the transition will be smooth, but if not, updates will be posted here. Thanks everyone for your patience and understanding!

Removed thread

Friends, I removed a thread this evening entitled “Simultaneously Justified and a Sinner”, because the content of the thread was giving glory to Satan, and not our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

My prayer is that those who saw the thread will lift Moriah up in intercessory prayer. May our Lord Jesus Christ–the One who has defeated Satan on Calvary–be praised, and may His will be done.

Login troubles?

Some users have experienced difficulty logging into the forum recently due to an update in the website software. The problem may be solved by clearing the web browser cookies, closing the web browser, and logging back in again. Detailed instructions for doing this are found below.

Internet Explorer 6.x - Windows
Within IE, go to Tools | Internet Options.
Click Delete Cookies.
Click OK.

Internet Explorer 7.x - Windows
Within IE, go to Tools | Internet Options.
Click on the General tab and then click the Delete… button.
Click the Delete cookies button.
Click the Yes button.
Then click the Close button, followed by the OK button.

Internet Explorer - Mac
On a Classic OS machine, go to Edit | Preferences. On OS X go to Explorer | Preferences.
Expand the Receiving Files option on the left if it isn’t already.
Click Cookies.
In the box that displays all the cookies on the machine, click once to select one, and then press Command-A to select all.
Click Delete.
Click OK.

Netscape 7.x/Mozilla - Windows
Within Netscape, go to Tools | Cookie Manager | Manage Stored Cookies.
Click Remove All Cookies.

Netscape 7.x/Mozilla - Mac
Within Netscape, go to Tools | Cookie Manager | Manage Stored Cookies.
Click Remove All Cookies.
Click OK.

Firefox 1.5 - Windows
Open Firefox and go to Tools | Options.
Click Privacy.
View the “Cookies” tab and click the Clear Cookies Now (older versions of Firefox are very similar to these instructions).

Firefox 2.x - Windows
Open Firefox and go to Tools | Options.
Click Privacy.
Click the “Show Cookies” button and then click the Remove All Cookies button.

Firefox 1.5 - Mac
Open Firefox and go to Firefox | Preferences.

Site upgrade

To enable easier administration and updating of the site, I have moved to a new software platform. There are a number of advantages to the new software. To name just one, now any references to Bible texts will automatically be linked to an online Bible. Here is an example: John 3:16

All of the old posts have been carried over to the new site, but you will notice the timestamps may be different than on the old site. I will post some tutorials on how to use the functions of this new site over time. Until then, if there are any questions, post them as replies to this thread.

Green eggs and spam

Some of you may have noticed that we received some spam posts today containing links to pornographic material. I have installed a new spam filter that should take care of the great majority of these posts in the future, but this is still very much a work in progress.
