P.S.

The Seventh-day Adventist church uses a dispensational approach to its understanding of the Seven Churches of Revelation--each church representing a different age or era in the Christian Church--However, it rejects the Darby or Schofield dispensational approach to history and to the end-time scenario.

Charismatic Pentacostal strain of Biblical understanding pays reverence to the Ten Commandments, particularly in strong support of the display of the Ten Commandments in schools, governmental buildings etc. In that sense it is legalistic in its support of the “Blue Laws”.

Hi Bob, I will also add my prayers for your friends.  I am praying that they will see the all-sufficiency of Christ apart from the layers of theological error that has obscured Him.

Marti continues to make excellent progress. She was able to attend the OC Fair with her caregiver yesterday, and even went on rides.

However, she is now in that inevitable time period when some frustration and even depression begins to set in. It is easy for me as a caregiver to lose patience as well. So, we are still taking comfort in God’s guidance and will, and are trusting Him daily for added strength.

Bob,
I will pray for the couple in LL as they are exiting the SDA church.
Deacon, thanks for the information on the Charismatic Pentacostal.  I am being very careful and praying for the person.
Stan,
It thrills my heart to hear of Marti’s progress.  I know it must be hard on the both of you.  And you are right to seek God’s guidance and will and trust him daily for what ever you need.  I continue to pray for you.

Hi everyone,

Marti had been doing real well and has been home for four weeks. Today, she has had another setback, but we hope it is minor. I will not be taking her back to the hospital. Hopefully we can ride this one out at home. So please continue your prayers, as I will be watching her carefully this weekend.

We are confident that God is indeed in control of this situation, and we have been praying intently together this afternoon.

Marti did have a fourth stroke in the last 3.5 months.  She was very agitated all day, but has finally improved. We are still very hopeful that she will recover yet another time. Thanks for your prayers.

We did have to take Marti back to the hospital, as her condition got worse. We are hopeful for more progress today, and maybe able to come home in a few days. Thanks for your prayers. It is a very difficult time right now, but the fellowship with everyone on here has really means a lot.

Stan,
I am so sorry.  God in Heaven, You are the Great Physician and I ask that you be with Marti and Stan at this time.  You know best how to take care of Marti and the strokes that are plaguing her.  Whatever happens, may you get all the honor and Glory.
Take care of Stan also, as this is hard on him.
Amen.
You are awesome.

I am posting from the rehab hospital where Marti is undergoing her fourth period of rehab after her fourth stroke in 4 months. Today has been another emotional roller coaster. She has improved by this afternoon, and showing encouraging signs of another reasonable recovery. But this episode has been very difficult, and I appreciate your continued prayers,

Dear Stan,

I can only imagine the emotional toll this has been on Marti and especially on you.

Even though I have never had the pleasure to meet Marti personally, please let her know she is in my thoughts and prayers.  You, my friend, are too.

Marti is returning to the hospital again this weekend. She has suffered yet another major setback.

The course of her disease appears to be in a malignant phase right now, and we are still hoping and praying for a remission.

One thing we know for sure. Marti has had a wonderful realization of the grace of God. She knows her Saviour, and whatever happens, she is hoping that her life will be a testimony of God’s grace.

Yesterday my systematic devotional Bible study time took me to both Psalm 103 and Isaiah 53, and both of these chapters gave me great comfort.

Psalm 103:1-13

1Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

7He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

8The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

9He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

10He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The above is so comforting.

Then with regard to suffering Isaiah 53 really brings it into perspective:

3He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

8He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

9And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

10Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

11He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

12Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” (Is 53:3-12)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ultimate sufferering was endured by the Lord Jesus. He took the full wrath of God due us for our sins. This was even planned before the foundation of the world.

There is no suffering on this earth that any of us can endure that comes even close to what Jesus suffered in our behalf.

We look beyond this fleeting life on this earth to an eternal home in heaven where there will be no more tears and no more suffering. I can’t wait.

Soli Deo Gloria
