Stan

Your faith and courage are a great example of the Gospel in action. I spent 20 days of eternity with Betty in intensive care. That was five years ago. Recently, I had a two day stay in intensive care. The Nurses still remembered Betty. They take great pride in “saving” her for me. I give them a lot of credit. But I give the glory to God.  I pray you will have the blessed outcome that I had when I received my Betty back. We were married 58 years ago this past June 30. I remenber it well! The Lord has blessed us. We claim the same blessing for you and Mari. Tom Z. the Deacon.

Stan,

I am so sorry to learn that Marti continues to have such overwhelming health problems.  Your own emotional and psychological pain must at times be overwhelming too.

We can be thankful that in the “down times” of human life, we have a Savior who experienced it all on our behalf, and promises total deliverance from it all someday.

Both of you are in my prayers.

Stan,

I am so sorry to hear this. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to bear your burdens in prayer and for demonstrating a faith that can only come from believing in God’s sovereignty in all things–in good times and in bad.

I agree with Bob, we have a Savior who suffered more than any of us will ever know. We serve a God who not only can sympathize with our pain, but He can empathize because He knows our pain from firsthand experience.

May God be a comfort in your time of need, and may He cradle Marti in His love.

My Dear Brother Stan,
I am so sorry to read about Marti being in the hospital again.  It is so hard on both of you.  Father, please keep Marti and Stan in your awesome hands and help them in this, their time of need.  Hold them close and comfort them.  Thank you Father that Marti knows you and thank you that Stan knows you also. You are always awesome God.
Your Christian sister,
Diana

I am comforted by everyone’s response.

We don’t know what the future holds but we know Who holds the future.

In the words of the great hymn:

“Because He lives I can face tomorrow...”

Stan,

Please know that our family is continuing to pray for both you and Marti.  I’m so sorry to hear of this and that Marti keeps having these setbacks.  I also pray that Marti’s recent spiritual awakening will only intensify through this.

God bless you.

Hi All,
Before I put down my request I want to say, Stan, I am continuing to pray for Marti and you.
I know I put on here about a friend who is studying the Bible in a group.  It turns out the leader is a retired SDA minister.  This lady is a person I knew from my support group.
She goes to Bible study every Thursday at 11 AM and Friday evenings. She wants me to go with her next week.  I do not work on Thursdays.  I told her I would pray about it.  This would be the first time I would face an SDA teaching SDA doctrine to people who do not realize that is what he is doing.  My friend apparently has a book about adventism that says the SDA do not play cards, dance, go to movies, wear jewelry.  When she asked the pastor about it, he said, O, I do not get into religion.  Shucks he is teaching the SDA religion to these people.
The thoughts running through my brain right now are to go, but tell my friend not to say anything to the minister about me.  Let me just be a visiting member of the group.
I want to have a list of questions with the Bible answers with me.  Like I said, these are just the thoughts running through my head.
Please pray for me as to what God wants me to do.
Our God is awesome and will answer this prayer.

Diana, you are right. Our God is awesome, and I know He will guide and direct you into what He wants you to do. Keep us posted.

This has been a very difficult week. In addition to a 75 hour work week, Marti was hospitalized at the same hospital that I was taking care of patients in, so it made it convenient as I was able to visit her frequently.

Marti has had several significant setbacks. She still remains in good spirits. She goes back to stroke rehab at Long Beach on Monday, assuming she remains stable.

But unless God intervenes in a miraculous way to heal her physically, the prognosis doesn’t look good. But God has intervened to give her a resurrected soul, and everlasting life that is in Christ.

It is in experiences like these that God tests us, and brings us through trials, and we are confident that whatever happens with Marti, that God will work in this for His glory. It is in these experiences that I have come to realize even more than before how important doctrine is in going through this. The doctrine of God’s sovereignty means everything in a time like this. The doctrines of the Reformed faith are practical doctrines and give us the assurance that God is in control of our destinies, and is in control of all things that happen to us.

Thanks again for your prayers.

Soli Deo Gloria,

Stan

Dear Stan,
I am so glad God allowed us to meet each other.  You are such a dear friend.  I am so sorry about Marti.  But I am happy that God has resurrected her soul.  That is so important.  No matter what happens she knows God is in control of all things.
Father in Heaven, You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  You are also the Great Physician.  I am asking that you intervene in this disease that Marti has that keeps giving her a stroke. I know that what You do will be for your name’s Honor and Glory.  Thank you God.
Thank You for Stan’s and Marti’s faith and love for you. Hold both of them in your Hands at this time.
Thank you God for being the AWESOME GOD that you are.
In Jesus name I ask these things.
AMEN.
I will continue to pray for you and Martie.  I am so glad you have the faith that you have.

Stan, I am in the Salt Lake City airport as I am writing this. Your confidence in the sovereign purpose of God is a living testament to His provision for His children, even in the middle of life’s most difficult trials. I praise God for your faith because it has helped strengthen my own. My most earnest prayers remain with you and Marti.

May God be glorified by our response to life’s storms. This earth is full of pain, but like the old song says, “This is earth is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through”. While we wait for the perishable to put on the imperishable, let us glorify God by simply trusting Him, and bearing each other’s burdens.

Well Friends,
After praying about going to the Bible study with my friend, I am going tomorrow at 11 AM.  Please pray for me that God puts the words into my mouth and mind.  I told my friend she can tell the leader, the retired SDA minister, that I am visiting and I am a former SDA.
Thanks in advance for all the prayers.

Diana, I will be praying for you. I am praying that you will be able to communicate the glorious good news of Jesus Christ to your friend and also to the pastor. Even though you have been through much hardship and false teaching in the past, you have an all-surpassing joy that dispels all the ugliness. Jesus Christ and His gospel are our greatest treasures; it is my prayer that we will convey this to everyone God sends our way–Adventist or not.
