I will very soon, God willing, go home to my wife after my current deployment! I praise our sovereign God for keeping us safe, and for keeping us firmly grounded in the truth of His word while we were apart. His grace to us is truly amazing, even in these temporal things. In eternal things, it is infinitely more so.

For the glory of His name

I also will post my prayer of praise this evening

We are continuing to see progressive signs of improvement in Marti’s condition. She is now getting special strength training therapy which is improving her balance. Just 2 weeks ago, she was able to see her own face in the mirror much more clearly for the first time and see my face for the first time more clearly! You should have seen the smile and hope on her face.

She still has a long way to go, but she has come along way by God’s grace, and her spiritual strength gets stronger as time goes on. The Lord continues to sustain me and give me strength in being a caregiver.

Soli Deo Gloria (To God alone be the glory)

Very glad to hear again about your wife’s improvements, Stan. I can’t imagine how difficult is for you to watch for the least improvement in her condition and be grateful to God for it. May God give you patience, strenght and joy in Him on the rough path that you’re traveling.

Thanks Gabriel.

Please continue to pray for Marti. She got into one of her spells of depression and crying tonight, and I cried with her, but she will get through it. It is so difficult at times, but the Lord is good.

Thanks so much for your concerns and prayers

Dearest Stan,

I know how crushed I feel when I see my own wife cry and there’s little I can do but offer the comfort of my arms.

Please share these passages with Marti, and reassure her that there are many who are praying for her…

Psalm 37 (NIV):

23 If the LORD delights in a man’s way,
he makes his steps firm;

24 though he stumble, he will not fall,
for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

25 I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.

Philippians 1 (NIV)

3I thank my God every time I remember you. 4In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

By His grace, and in His love,

Dan…

Hi Stan

Just wanted you to know that we continue to pray for you and Marti.

He knows every hurt in our hearts.  The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit.  Ps 34:18

He collects every tear in a bottle Ps 56:8 He has promised to wipe away all tears--no more crying or pain. Rev 21:4

Praise God, better days are coming!

Thank you, Stan, for giving so generously of you time here on FTG.  I have often been blessed by the discussions here.

Thanks Dan and Bob.  Good to hear from you folks again.

I ran across this new hymn tonight and especially with all that is going on right now, this really touched my heart and I would like to share it:

http://www.sovereigngracestore.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=M4270-02-51

What reason have I to doubt
Why would I dwell in fear
When all I have known is grace
My future in Christ is clear

My sins have been paid in full
There’s no condemnation here
I live in the good of this
My Father has brought me near
I’m leaving my fears behind me now

Chorus
The old is gone, the new has come
What You complete is completely done
We’re heirs with Christ, the victory won
What You complete is completely done

I don’t know what lies ahead
What if I fail again
You are my confidence
You’ll keep me to the end
I’m leaving my fears behind me now

Soli Deo Gloria!

Hi Stan,

I praise God for the improvements that He has blessed your wife with, and I praise Him for sustaining us during the difficult times. We will continue to pray for you both.

“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison...” - 2 Corinthians 4:17

I don’t consider your afflictions light at all Stan, but I know that when God receives you and Marti in glory all of the trials that He has used in our lives will pale in comparison to the glorious beauty of our Savior’s face.

Love in Christ

Marti was again admitted to the hospital late last night for a significant case of pneumonia requiring multiple antibiotics. We believe she will be fine, but the potential for serious complications is certainly present.

She has wonderful Christian nurses taking care of her and praying with her. I praise God for this, because remember this is Southern Calif which is supposed to be so sophisticated and post-modern, yet God has wonderful Christian people placed strategically to give her the best care possible.

God is definitely under control and is sovereign over all things.

Soli Deo Gloria

This is a pastor’s prayer for his need for the gospel and it should be the prayer of all believers

http://thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/tgc/2009/10/12/my-monday-morning-need-of-the-gospel/

Dear Lord Jesus,

While I still believe, with all my heart, you are the only Savior, I now see how more of my heart needs more of you and more of the gospel.

There is nobody on the face of the earth that needs the gospel today, and its transforming resources, more than me, and I am SO glad to be able to acknowledge this reality. I need you today, Jesus, as much as I did in March of 1968 when you washed away all my sins and covered me with the robe of your righteousness.

You have saved me in the past, when I was justified by grace alone through faith alone; you are saving me in the present, as the Holy Spirit applies more and more of your finished work to my whole being; and you will save me in the future, when you return to finish making all things new, including ME!

Lord Jesus, though I’m never tempted to look to any other name for my justification, I am very tempted to look to other names and means for my transformation—worse of all, is when I look to me to be my own savior. But only you, Jesus, are able to save completely those who come to God through you, for you are always living to pray for us and to advocate for us (Heb 7:25). You are my righteousness, holiness and redemption, and that’s why I only boast in you today! (1 Cor. 1:30-31)

So I come to you today, Jesus, right now! Save me more fully from my fear of man, my need to be in control, my ticky-tacky pettiness. Save me from trying to be anybody’s savior. I want to get irritated far less often and to be spontaneous much more often. I want to “light up” more quickly when I hear your name, Jesus, and not be downcast, when I don’t hear my name.

That’s more than enough confession for one day… Indeed, Jesus, I must be saved, I am being saved, through your name alone. Hallelujah!
------------------------

Amen!

My wife and I are expecting our first child! This is such a wonderful blessing, and a beautiful gift from God. I would just ask that you would pray for my wife Julia and for the little one, especially since I am back out on deployment and unable to help her. I praise God and thank Him for your fellowship this past year!

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!

Congratulations Nate!

Thank you for your service especially in times like these.

We will be praying as you are deployed that God will grant safekeeping and comfort your wife as well.
