Aaron, no reason to repeat what the other members on this forum said, my prayers are added to theirs.

But since the subject is suffering, I wonder if the following message from Together For the Gospel Conference 2010 will be an encouragement for you. It’s a video containing a double message, first the pastor Matt Chandler which speaks about faith and God’s sovereignty while suffering from a severe form of brain cancer, and next CJ Mahaney with a message about the gospel and suffering. At the end all speakers put their hands on Matt and Piper prays a wonderful prayer for Matt which I think it’s a model in dealing with God when suffering.

The link to the video file is here.

In his speech CJ Mahaney recommends an article about Matt entitled Suffering Well: Pastor’s faith tested by cancer. May God bring encouragement to you through these messages.

God bless you,
Gabriel

Aaron, I check in here once in while and found your prayer request today.  I have prayed for your son and will continue to do so.  Awesome God knows what to do.  May He hold you and your family tightly in His arms as you go through this.

Hi everyone,

Well, it has been awhile since I posted any updates on Marti’s condition. She continues to get weaker physically, but her faith remains strong. It takes more caregiver support now than before.

God continues to be faithful as we struggle along in this painful process of slow deterioration.

However, there was a bright spot yesterday. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. With the caregiver’s help, we were able to take her in her wheelchair to the San Clemente, California restaurant on the pier. She had such a good time, and enjoyed a wonderful meal. Just for her to be able to get out of the house helps brighten her day, and those of us taking care of her were blessed as well.

Thanks for your continued prayers.

Will continue to pray for you and Marti. Praise God for His care, and for granting you with such a good time on your anniversary. God bless you both.

Heavenly Father,

We know by Your Holy Word that You are faithful in all things.

Please give comfort and solace to Stan and to Marti during these hard, hard, trials that they face together.

LORD, give them Your full assurance that their faith is not in vain and that Your loving arms await them regardless of the time frame that You have in mind.

May any heartache they suffer be assuaged by the knowledge that Your heart ached first for them before anything was created.

As always Father, Your will be done.

We humbly ask for nothing else.

We present this imperfect petition to You in the Name of Your loving Son, our Savior and Lord,

Jesus Christ

Amen

Physical suffering is always taxing. Even if it is a small sickness, years of suffering can crush the spirit. Fortunately God is sustaining our souls in these times in ways we not always understand and perceive. May God bless you both with his care and comfort with his grace.

In awe of His grace

Praying for both you and Marti Stan, and rejoicing for the little comforts and pleasures that God bestows upon you both even with this illness. : )
