I did find the referenced site’s comments here rather amusing:
“In the summer of 1849 a local pestilence struck the region. Mrs. White, seeing this as a fulfillment of prophecy indicating the end of the world, predicts this pestilence will soon become widespread:
“What we have seen and heard of the pestilence, is but the beginning of what we shall see and hear. Soon the dead and dying will be all around us.” (Present Truth, Sept. 1849).
Not long after this prophecy was penned (1849) the pestilence ended and the United States entered a period of relative peace and prosperity that lasted for many years.”

Well, there was that little thing called the Civil War, which commenced just 12 years after the prophecy. So I wouldn’t say the US entered a period of relative peace and prosperity that lasted many years. And about 600k people died in that war, more Americans than in all other U.S. wars combined.
However, I agree with the site’s overall emphasis that the much ballyhooed “time of the end” and “shaking” appears not to have occured then or as a result. And the lessons this quarter, from what I have been able to ascertain from various sources--I haven’t read them myself--are apparently especially bad in their blatant apologetic content.
