SDA “Shut Door” video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5IjtWSuJis

Dennis Fischer

Dennis,

I watched the video and while listening to the lady’s voice doing the narrating, I became curious about whether the people presenting this video had any alternative gospel which we could embrace.

If these folks have given up SDA, it looks like they have replaced it with something just as bad and their website is
http://www.babylonforsaken.com On this website perfectionism is taught here:

http://www.babylonforsaken.com/SET_FREE.html

Here is a quote from above

If it were true that it is not possible for Christians to stop sinning, then we must say that it is not possible for the thief to give up stealing, or the drunkard to give up alcohol, or the murderer to give up murdering. Yet we have abundant examples of people who have done just that. How can we explain this if it is not possible for a Christian to stop sinning? Sin is, and always has been, a choice made of our own free will. And if it is an action of our own free will nobody can ever truthfully claim that it is not possible for a Christian to stop sinning.
-------------------------
This is the old argument of a low view of what sin really is.

So I am not sure which Babylon these folks have forsaken. There are other examples of questionable teachings on that site such as saying that Christians can lose their salvation. So before they throw stones at SDA, they ought to look at their own house.

Stan,

We must give credit where credit is due.  Former Adventists come in many different stripes (i.e., those still clinging to perfectionism, weekly festal Sabbath observance, soul sleep/conditionalism, food lists, their fallen will for salvation, etc.).  In spite of their other erroneous views, the presenters of this video did a good job in exposing the SDA “shut door” doctrine.  Likewise, we don’t disparage the Catholics for upholding the Trinity doctrine.

Dennis,

I believe you are right. I could not resist reading their website and becoming discouraged to see what these people teach.

There was just something about the tone of voice and the style of delivery of that woman narrating the video which made me wonder whether she had any other gospel. The narrator missed a golden opportunity after exposing the false shut door doctrine to point people to the true doctrine of salvation. I felt uneasy about the sarcastic tone.

Sorry Dennis for being so picky.
