This week’s White Horse Inn radio program will be worth your time to give it a listen (as always).  Discussed is the topic of how the Law fits into the Gospel and redemptive history.  The introduction to this week’s show reads as follows:

Is the Bible merely a manual of timeless ethics? If so, what do we do with the various civil and ceremonial laws from the Old Testament? Are we, like Israel of old, called to cleanse the land of idolatry by a kind of holy war? How should we interpret and apply texts of this kind? These questions and more will be addressed on this edition of the White Horse Inn.

You can listen directly from the main page here under the “Listen Now!” heading or download it separately.

Thanks Aaron.

I was able to listen to the first portion earlier tonight and as usual this is White Horse Inn vintage material.

They talked about how the Old Covenant is obsolete as Hebrews 10 states.

Here is a dramatic recitation of Hebrews 9 and 10 which is really good and puts an exclamation mark on the WHI show.

This WHI was really great, thanks for posting it Aaron. I guess I’ve kind of been on this kick a lot lately, but it seems like it would be extremely difficult to understand any of this without understanding the covenants. And, as they pointed out on the program, it is essential to see what the New Testament says about the covenants, and how the New Testament explains the Old. Anyhow, thanks again Aaron, and thank you as well Stan for posting the link to Justin Taylor’s blog. Really great stuff all around.

Sam and Nate,

I’m glad that you found the link worthwhile.  The WHI has been an incredible blessing to me as they do such a terrific job magnifying Christ and Him crucified each and every week and bringing the church back to the true gospel.

Stan, your link to the dramatiic recitation of Hebrews 9 and 10 does indeed put an exclamation point to the supremacy of the New Covenant and Christ’s finished work and redemption of sinful man which is the theme in all of Scripture from Genesis through Revelation.  Once you see this, not only the NT but the OT comes alive, as well.
