It was an excellent conference which I truly want those in the Young Restless and Reformed camp will pay attention to. Machen was right in ways that usually elude our attention. After watching this conference, it became clearer that the YRR movement, with it’s Together for the Gospel conferences and also Gospel Coallition are doomed to big failure. They are based on a similar type of compromise that prompted Machen to write “Christianity and Liberalism.”

Unfortunately people doesn’t get the heart of Machen’s genius revealed in the book “Christianity and Liberalism”. History is going to repeat itself if people don’t learn the past lessons. When they will be willing to stand for a definite confession of faith and not for a lower common denominator, the YRR folks will be prepared to survive. Of course, not like YRR, but as confessional reformed.

All video recordings are available for a short period here:

Amen Gabriel! I too hope the YRR folks take this conference to heart. Dr. Hart’s critique of the evangelical use of Machen (especially Piper’s) was definitely a highlight. Lots of evangelicals want to use Machen as some sort of defender of generic conservative protestantism, which is far from the truth. Of course they can’t go far enough with him to stomach the fact that he was just as critical of dispensationalism as he was of liberalism. Both undermine the Gospel. Thanks again for posting this.
