The Term
God’s Revealed Will
(rih-VEELD will)
The Definition
Merriam-Webster: Reveal — to make known or disclose.
FTG Expanded Explanation: God’s revealed will refers to what He has clearly made known in Scripture concerning how people are to live, believe, and obey. Unlike His hidden sovereign decrees, God’s revealed will is openly communicated through His Word. It includes His commands, moral standards, and instructions for faithful living. While people may disobey God’s revealed will, they remain accountable to Him because He has plainly spoken.
The Biblical Connection
Deuteronomy 29:29 – “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever.”
Micah 6:8 – “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you…”
1 Thessalonians 4:3 – “For this is the will of God, your sanctification.”
