Forgiveness for Charlie's Killer?
There is a distinct difference between forgiveness and reconciliation. Forgiveness only takes one (we can “release” people to God), but reconciliation takes two (both parties need to agree on the sin, repentance, and forgiveness).
When we choose to forgive, we are following closely in the footsteps of Jesus, who said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing” (Luke 23:34).
Forgiveness does not negate justice or remove the consequences of sin, but it does release the sinful party to God and ensure bitterness has no root in our hearts. Bitterness will crush the soul, but forgiveness will renew it.
Christians Don't "Retire" From Ministry
