The Term
God’s Veracity
(vuh-RASS-uh-tee)
The Definition
Merriam-Webster: Devotion to the truth; truthfulness.
Expanded Explanation: God’s veracity means He is perfectly truthful in His character, His words, and His actions. He cannot lie, deceive, or make a false promise. Everything He reveals is true, and everything He promises will be fulfilled according to His purpose. Unlike people, who may mislead others or fail to keep their word, God is completely trustworthy. His truthfulness provides the foundation for our confidence in Scripture, which accurately communicates what He intends to reveal. Christians can believe His promises, heed His warnings, and obey His commands with confidence because the God who speaks never lies.
The Biblical Connection
Titus 1:2 – “God, who cannot lie…”
John 17:17 – “Your word is truth.”
Hebrews 6:18 – “…it is impossible for God to lie”
Used in an Everyday Conversation

“Understanding God’s veracity helps Christians build their lives on Scripture rather than changing opinions or personal assumptions.”
