Cultivate & Motivate
Learnings, teachings, and theology for anyone to reference during difficult times, stressful workdays, and times of study and growth.
Theology Terms Explained: “Bibliology”
Bibliology is the doctrine of Scripture. It addresses what the Bible is, where it came from, and why it carries absolute authority for faith and life.
Theology Terms Explained: “Irresistible Grace”
Irresistible grace refers to God’s sovereign work in salvation whereby the Holy Spirit effectively calls and regenerates those whom God has chosen. This does not mean people are dragged unwillingly into the kingdom. Rather, it means that God changes the heart so that the sinner freely and joyfully comes to Christ.
Theology Terms Explained: “Limited Atonement”
Limited atonement teaches that Christ’s death was designed to actually secure salvation for those God intended to save. While the value of Christ’s atonement is sufficient for all, its saving effect is applied only to the elect. Jesus did not merely make salvation possible; He accomplished it
Theology Terms Explained: “Depravity”
Depravity is the biblical doctrine that sin has affected every part of human nature—our minds, wills, emotions, and desires. Often called total depravity, this doctrine does not mean that people are as evil as they could possibly be, but that sin has corrupted the whole person, leaving humanity spiritually unable to please God or save itself.
Theology Terms Explained: “Angelology”
Angels are real, powerful, and active in Scripture—but they are never meant to be the focus. A biblical understanding of angelology helps us see angels in their proper place as servants of God, not substitutes for Christ.
Theology Terms Explained: “Gospel”
The gospel is the good news that God saves sinners through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is not advice, but news—what God has done through His Son to rescue sinners by grace alone through faith alone.
Theology Terms Explained: “Penal Substitution”
Penal substitution explains the heart of the gospel: Jesus took the punishment our sin deserved so we could be forgiven. God’s justice was satisfied, and His mercy was displayed—fully and finally—at the cross.
Theology Terms Explained: “Demonology”
The Bible never treats demons as mythology or exaggeration. Understanding demonology helps believers stay sober-minded, discerning, and firmly anchored in the authority of Christ.
4 Views on Eschatology
In this article, Costi Hinn surveys the four views of eschatology and encourages believers to approach these doctrines with humility, readiness, and a Christ-centered focus.
Theology Terms Explained: “Christology”
Understanding the doctrine of Christology is vital because if you get Christology wrong, you get Jesus wrong, and if you get Jesus wrong, you cannot be saved (John 14:6). The study of Christology is also important for nurturing your relationship with Jesus. The more you know Him, the more you will love Him and be thankful for His work on your behalf.
Doctrine Matters
We have all heard some version of the statement: “I love Jesus, I’m just not into theology.” Or, “I know the gospel, which is all the doctrine I need.” Or, “learning doctrine and theology is for those stuffy seminary types.” Or, “Jesus + Nothing = Everything.”
The Holy Spirit & You: Triumph or Tragedy?
There is a member of the Holy Trinity that is most neglected, misunderstood, and misrepresented, yet, He is an integral and equal part of the Godhead. Many of His works go unnoticed, while many foolish and outlandish practices are credited to Him. The feeble attempts to “reveal” Him by well-meaning believers, or preying “prophets”, do nothing to thwart the powerful truth that He is God – the Holy Spirit.
Deadly Doctrine: Divorcing Spirit & Truth
Joel Beeke, in his article about Calvin’s knowledge and piety, summarizes his view of Calvin’s teaching about the work of the Holy Spirit and the written Word this way: “The work of the Spirit does not supplement or supersede the revelation of Scripture, but authenticates it.” [1]
